Summary:

The Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health publishes highly credible reports documenting the impacts of climate change on health.

Highlights:

Eleven of the United States's leading medical societies formed the Medical Society Consortium on Climate & Health in 2017. The mission of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health is to inform the public and policymakers about the harmful health effects of climate change on Americans, as well as about the immediate and long-term health benefits associated with decreasing greenhouse gas emissions (i.e., heat-trapping pollution) and other preventive and protective measures.

In 2007 it published the report. "Medical Alert! Climate Change Is Harming Our Health", which highlights crucial health harms from climate change. Among them: cardio-respiratory illness associated with wildfires and air pollution; heat injury from extreme heat events; spread of infectious disease, including dangerous conditions such as West Nile virus and Lyme disease; and health and mental health problems caused by floods and extreme weather.
